In 2008, my husband and I adopted a 6 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback (Trapper). Trapper is a great dog but being the energetic and excitable dog he was, we had quite a handful. We enrolled Trapper in one of Patricia's classes and it was a great decision! She immediately took special interest in Trapper and began to design techniques that I could use to help Trapper to be more calm and focused on my commands. At the beginning of each class, she offered me new insight on Trapper and often brought in various equipment to assist me in changing Trapper's behavior.
Not only did I find Patricia to be very knowledgeable in canine behavior but also very compassionate and loving in the way she dealt with Trapper. Trapper just loved coming to Patricia's class and he is now a more focused and confident dog because of her efforts. I would highly recommend Patricia Tirrell to anyone who would want to improve their dog handling skills as well as teach their canine how to be a better companion animal.

I adopted my first dog in May 2009 and in July I brought home my first foster dog. He was so sick – heart worm positive, 7 lbs. underweight with a case of ehrlichiosis thrown in for good measure – and I had no idea what I was doing. In addition, after about the first week, he began having resource guarding issues with my other dog. The third night he was with me, he suddenly refused to eat or drink anything. I emailed the Triangle Beagle Rescue group and Patricia Tirrell was the first person to respond. I had not met her and wouldn’t for weeks to come, but she helped and supported me every step of the way with my little foster guy. Today, he is happy and healthy in a new forever home and a lot of that is due to Patricia’s wisdom. She taught me training techniques, tips for getting water into him, helped me know when he needed to go to the vet, assisted in getting him to stop fighting with my other dog and supported me and my dogs in countless other ways. It is great to have someone who knows dogs as well as she does, uses positive training techniques and has so many resources for people. I don’t know what I would have done last summer without Patricia! -Karen Carlton Raleigh, NC
The moment I met Patricia and Charlie I knew they were special. As we walked the halls of Duke Hospital I saw pure joy in the faces of people who could barely get out of bed. It was immediately obvious to me that the bond between Patricia and her dogs runs very deep. Her devotion to the community and her understanding of dogs is amazing. I am the Operations Manager for Caring House. Patricia diligently volunteers time to come and visit our patients. I find her approach to training to be logical, gentle and effective. We are truly grateful to have crossed paths with Patricia, Charlie and now Abby!
